My Approach
Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT) places great emphasis upon being present with our emotions as they are felt in our body – our ‘felt sense’. The endeavour of opening to the fullness of our experience as a way of working with and moving towards difficulty can bring awareness to our lives and a greater appreciation of its richness and meaning. Learning to rest comfortably in uncertainty, to allow being with’ rather than ‘doing or fixing’ is deeply nourishing and life affirming.
You will learn a range of mindfulness practices that will help you to listen to the inherent wisdom in your body and develop a compassionate and gentle relationship with your moment to moment experience.
This relational process of bringing wise and compassionate attention to ourselves and different aspects of our being that are hidden, wounded or hurting, allows us to cultivate a different relationship with our experience; one in which we can see ourselves more clearly and increase our capacity to move towards the challenges of life in a more resourceful way.
People come to mindfulness based therapy for different reasons. They could be going through one of the following states.
- Depression, fears and anxieties.
- A personal or existential crisis or major life change.
- Relationship problems, bereavement.
- Feeling blocked or stuck.
- Feelings of emptiness and wishing to enquire more deeply into life experiences.
- Feelings of being cut-off, isolated or alienated.
Or more subtle issues such as:
Fees and Structure
An initial interview /consultation will last 60 minutes and be charged at £50. Subsequent sessions are £70 per hour.
In order to provide a framework for the work, sessions will be weekly and scheduled for a regular day and time. I do understand that sometimes flexibility is required and in these instances I try my hardest to offer alternatives wherever possible.
