When looking for a counsellor/psychotherapist it is important to shop around and take your time to choose someone that makes you feel comfortable and that you think you can work with. The first step therefore is to meet up and come and see me for an initial chat / consultation.
In the meantime please find below some commonly asked questions which will give you an idea of what to expect.

How do I know if James is the right person for me?
One of the key determinants is your intuitive and felt sense of being with me and whether you feel heard, met and attended to with kindness.
Our initial chat / consultation is also an opportunity for me to find out a little bit more about what is going on for you at present and for you to ask any questions you have about the therapeutic process and the way I work. From there you can make an informed decision about whether you want to work with me going forward.
How long does it take?
Core Process Psychotherapy is open-ended, but if you decide to work with me there will be a review after six weeks to see how things are going. When either of us feels that it is time to bring the psychotherapy to an end, we will agree to discuss this together and work towards a planned ending date.
How much does it cost?
I charge between £60 – £90 per session depending on your age and financial circumstances.
What if I need to cancel a session?
In order to provide a framework for the work, sessions will be weekly and scheduled for a regular day and time. Sessions can be cancelled without charge given 48 hours notice. With less notice the full session fee will be due. I do understand that sometimes life gets in the way and in these instances I try my hardest to offer alternatives within the working week wherever possible.
