The vast majority of clients who come to see me initially for hypnotherapy present with physiological conditions that are in part made worse and exacerbated by stress and anxiety. In other words they are psychosomatic conditions; physical conditions with an emotional origin. (‘Psyche’ is Greek for Mind and ‘Soma’ is Greek for Body.)
Understandably, people are primarily concerned with the resolution or amelioration of the symptoms associated with their condition, as quickly as possible.
Hypnotherapy is an excellent vehicle for establishing symptom improvement, often in as little as 2-3 sessions, as it uses well established protocols tailored to each type of condition.
Once this has occurred I speak about the benefits of a mindfulness based approach to work alongside any further hypnotherapy: the invitation being that if we can change the root cause of a symptom, namely how we relate to the stress and anxiety in the first place, the physiological condition often resolves itself and in a more permanent way where recurrence is unlikely further down the track.
So, Mindfulness Based Hypnotherapy can be seen as two pronged assault on the condition that ails you.
Hypnotherapy tackles the symptom and Mindfulness tackles the root cause
